What is IPL Laser Hair Removal?

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) laser hair removal uses broad-spectrum light to target and destroy hair follicles, reducing hair growth over time. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair, converting to heat and disabling the follicle without damaging surrounding skin.

How many sessions do I need?

Only hair in the active growth stage of the growth cycle are affected, therefore, multiple treatments are needed. The number of treatments required varies, but typically 6 to 8 or more sessions are required for maximum results. Treatments are conducted every 4 - 6 weeks, depending on hair growth rate.

What does IPL Laser feel like?

Each pulse of light feels like a slight pinch or sting, similar to a snap of a rubber band. No anesthesia is required making it the preferred choice for hair removal and skin rejuvenation.

Am I a candidate?

Our IPL Laser is the first photo epilation procedure proven to effectively treat unwanted hair on ALL skin types and hair types. Any hair with at least some pigment in it (black, brown, red or dark blond) can be treated effectively. Grey and White hair has no melanin so it cannot be effectively treated as it will not heat up to disable the hair follicle for permanent hair reduction.

What is the cost?

Are there side effects?

Side effects are rare. You may experience some slight redness or local swelling at the treatment site, but typically it goes away within hours. If blistering or bruising occurs, it resolves itself quickly. On very rare occurrences, the skin may become darker or lighter following treatments, but will generally return to normal within a few weeks. However, most clients experience no side effect.

What results should I expect?

IPL has been proven to create a permanent reduction in the number of re-growing hairs following each treatment in most skin types. The number of treatments required depends on several factors (kind of hair, skin colour, hormonal levels, medications and photosensitivity levels).

What will I see after treatment?

The hair follicles are damaged by heat but the hairs remain in the follicles. The hair will fall out after 1-3 weeks as the epidermic renews. During this period the hairs will seem to "grow" as they are pushed out by the new epidermis. With treatments 4 weeks part, you can expect up to, 1-2 weeks of no hair growth in between session.

Do you tip Laser Technicians?

As with anyone in the service industry, Laser Technician always appreciate tips and gratuities. There are two ways you can tip: by percentage of total cost of services or by a dollar amount (exp. small area $10-$20, medium area $30-$40 and larger areas $50+).
